Associate Attorney

White Bear Ankele Tanaka & Waldron is seeking to add a dynamic and driven attorney to join our busy practice. We are a boutique law firm specializing in the representation of special districts (i.e. local governments) from organization to day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate would have 2-8 years’ experience in representing local governments or homeowners’ associations. Real estate experience also a plus.

Attorneys in our practice must be detail-oriented and self-motivated. Candidates should also be comfortable with frequent client interactions, able to independently manage tasks and deadlines, work well independently and as part of a team, be respectful of support staff, and aspire to be experts in our
field.

Assistant District Manager

The Assistant District Manager is responsible for assisting the District Manager with all aspects of managing the operations of assigned Title 32 Special Districts, including, but not limited to, operations, maintenance, and oversight of certain facilities and landscaping, covenant enforcement, fee collection, financial management, oversight of consultants and contractors, and preparation and coordination of public board meetings.

The Assistant District Manager is also responsible for assisting the Designated Election Official with election activities during regular and special district elections.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist District Manager with management services to special district clients, including both residential and commercial communities, with day-to-day oversight of operations and infrastructure development.
  • Provide superior client services while communicating and coordinating with special district residents, property owners, legal counsel, homeowners associations, and other governmental entities on a daily basis.
  • Work with District Manager and elected officials to implement the policies and procedures of each special district client which contribute to daily operations, including community inspections and maintenance and facilities oversight.
  • Assist District Manager to provide special district clients with guidance on policy formation. Anticipate potential problems and issues, while presenting recommendations for resolve.
  • Assist District Manager with general oversight of billing and accounts receivable, preparation of annual budget, and implementation of agreements between special district clients and consultants.
  • Assist District Manager with annual compliance requirements and filings. Expand understanding of state and municipality statutory compliance requirements.
  • Prepare agendas, minutes, resolutions, agreements, and other applicable documents.
  • Expand industry knowledge through exposure to Colorado statutes governing local governments and Title 32 Special Districts, governmental budgets and audits, public records, public notices, policy formation and implementation, covenant control, and local government tax structure.
  • Preparation for and attendance at special district board and committee meetings.
  • Assist Designated Election Official with election activities during regular and special district elections.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and work cooperatively with other departments in the
  • firm.
  • Track and record time daily with billing software.

Job Requirements and Skills

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university or 5 years of equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work experience in special district management or special district law.
  • Working knowledge of Title 32 Special Districts.
  • Occasional overtime and after-hours work, as required to meet job responsibilities.
  • Programs: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, PracticeMaster, LawSuite, and TABS3 Billing.

Experience

  • Microsoft Office: 5 years (Required)
  • Relevant Experience: 5 years (Required)
  • Billable time entry: 5 years (Preferred)

Salary

$70,000 – $85,000 per year, DOE
